Here at Foxbury Dental we are searching for an trainee/apprentice dental nurse to work alongside us in our thriving private dental practice in Husbands Bosworth, as we seek to expand our team. You will work closely alongside our clinicians to learn on the job, whilst having access to education and theory required to become fully qualified at the end of your training.
What it involves
The position is for a full time nurse, working 40 hours per week, with 20% of each week allocated to “off the job” training through a mixture of online or classroom based training, dependant on the chosen course providers requirements. The training usually takes 2 years to complete at which point you would become a fully qualified nurse with bigger earning potential and further possibilities to grow from there.

What we are looking for
The candidate must be looking for a new career or a fresh start, with plenty of passion and energy to work hard and to strive for excellence in everything that they do. They must be able to work effectively in a team and be confident enough to talk and build rapport with patients. We are ideally looking for a school or college leaver but may consider other candidates, so please apply! All candidates must be able to travel to the practice or walk if living local enough to do so.
We also are keen (although not essential) for the successful candidate to take an interest in our social media marketing, by working with management to plan and obtain marketing material within the practice to use in social media and marketing content going forwards, that will include patient participation. Any skills or knowledge in these areas would be advantageous, whilst being comfortable in taking photos, and potentially working with video.
Job Description
You will work with our dentists and other oral hygiene professionals providing care to patients and providing the administrative support that they need. Among other responsibilities you will manage patient’s appointments and records, prepare surgery material and sterilise it after being used in procedures, operate suction devices during treatment, prepare materials and compositions e.g. fillings, perform material stock control.
A Dental Nurse usually performs many of the following tasks:
* Building a relationship with patients
* Managing patients appointments
* Making sure all equipment is sterilized and ready before procedures and treatments
* Helping reassure patients
* Processing Labs requests, X-rays
* Carrying stock control duties
* Calculating treatment costs and explain them to patient
Pay / Package
All training courses are funded by the practice (us) and the government, so you only need to be able to travel to work and to college etc where applicable. You will also receive a salary from your employer during your training which can vary dependent on your age and experience, but would be a minimum of £5.00 per hour in the first 12 months, then increasing to the whatever the national living wage was until you are qualified. Once qualified we would hope to have you working for us long term and would look to re negotiate a package at this time.
